This review is from: Meanwhile, Back at Cafe Du Monde: Life Stories about Food (Hardcover). Who doesn’t have a favorite food or a favorite recipe—or a favorite life story revolving around a favorite relative who made their favorite meal or dessert? I love how the author pulls together family, friends and celebrities and invites them to share their favorite stories and memories about everyone’s favorite topic–good food.
This is a wonderful book and a fun read; it’s full of funny stories, colorful characters and great recipes. Café du Monde translates to “café of the world” or “world café”, and it’s pretty safe to say that the only people in the world who haven’t been to Café du Monde are those who have never been to New Orleans.
So my three-step advice is:
1) Go to New Orleans.
2) Start your first morning with a cup of café au lait and beignets at the Café du Monde, then branch out and explore the city’s old, narrow streets and experience the best restaurants in the world.
3) Finally, grab a copy of “Meanwhile, Back at Café du Monde…” and read it cover-to-cover to remind yourself that it’s good food and good people that make the world go `round.
