This review is from: Meanwhile, Back at Cafe Du Monde: Life Stories about Food (Hardcover). If you’re a lover of food, you’ll love this book! If you’re a lover of life stories and the human condition, you’ll love this book!
Meanwhile, Back at Café Du Monde. . . is more than a book with recipes from the South; it’s a book containing personal, touching and funny stories about real people celebrating one of our most favorite of all things – food. Peggy Sweeney-McDonald’s book makes you want to visit New Orleans & Louisiana to experience first-hand what these places are all about. I’m from the Bay Area, and after reading snippets from her book and visiting New Orleans for the first time this past October, my husband and I fell in love with the city, and we’ll be returning there for many years to come. I feel like it’s my kin. But, you don’t need to visit New Orleans to feel that way, just read Peggy’s book, delight in the stories, devour the recipes, and you’ll come to love Nola, too.
The recipes are delicious and easy to make, especially “Peggy’s Jammin’ Jambalya and “Lime Parfait.” The wonderful stories are slices of the life, combined with a bit of personal history and a dash of food. This book is not to be missed!! Savor and Enjoy!
