Peggy Sweeney-McDonald is a Southern storyteller, actress, author, and speaker whose work centers on caregiving, connection, and the power of sharing our stories.

She is the author of Meanwhile, Back at Café Du Monde… Life Stories About Food (Pelican Publishing), which began as a celebrated live food monologue show produced across the country before becoming a beloved coffee table book.

Through her bittersweet and heartfelt storytelling, Peggy offers comfort, humor, and hope to those navigating life’s most challenging seasons.

As a speaker, Peggy brings these stories to life in libraries, community programs, healthcare organizations, and special events—creating meaningful, interactive experiences that inspire connection and conversation.

A lifelong actress in theatre, film, and television, her recent roles include Amanda in The Glass Menagerie (Best Featured Actress in a Play) and Della in The Cake, both at Theatre Baton Rouge.
